Video game movies are learning.
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed video games are coming to the big screen with an original story set within the series' universe. The premise is that people in modern times can jump into their ancestors' memories, which are transferred completely intact via Lamarckian genetic transfer. There's also some ancient conspiracy junk that will probably be explained to the layman through dumps of expository dialogue early into the film.
Michael Fassbender stars as Callum Lynch, a descendent of an assassin from the time of the Spanish Inquisition. Some (probably) bad people want access to his ancestor's memories for (probably) nefarious purposes. We then get treated to some cool shots of Spain sometime in the 15th century, we think.
