A new BBC sketch comedy show Revolting spoofs the "Real Housewives" franchise and ISIS terrorist group in its first episode.
The controversial bit satirises the ways young women are manipulated by ISIS online. One ISIS bride says her seducer had her at "free healthcare," while another frets, "It's only three days until the beheading, and I've got no idea what I'm going to wear!"
BBC 2's Revolting comes from political sketch comedians Jolyon Rubinstein and Heydon Prowse, who previously worked on BBC 3's The Revolution Will Be Televised and a one-off special, Brexageddon?!, which satirised Britain's decision to leave the European Union.
The sketch has attracted controversy, but Rubinstein, Prowse and the BBC defended it. Prowse told British newspaper i: "It's important not to pull your punches in satire. You have to be fearless or it undermines your credibility. You can't go after David Cameron for five years like we did and not go after Islamic State.”
