“Darkness. Tears. Sighs.”
Suspiria is a remake of the 1977 Italian supernatural horror film of the same name, originally directed by Dario Argento and co-written by Argento and Daria Nicolodi. The remake is directed by Luca Guadagnino and written by David Kajganich.
The film stars Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Lutz Ebersdorf, Chloë Grace Moretz and Jessica Harper, who starred in the original film.
Dakota Johnson stars as Susie Bannion, a young dancer who travels to Markos Dance Academy in Berlin and becomes the star pupil of the artistic director, Madame Blanc, played by Tilda Swinton. “After a series of mysterious disappearances among the students, Susie, her new friend Sara, and the elderly psychologist Jozef Klemperer find out the school may harbour dark secrets that could kill them all.”
Luca Guadagnino is perhaps best know for directing the 2017 romantic drama, Call Me by Your Name, for which he was awarded the Nastro d'Argento for Best Director, a BAFTA Award for Best Direction and an Academy Award nomination for Best Direction.
Thom Yorke, the lead singer of Radiohead, is composing the film's score.
