YourCuzMarcus is set to perform in The Sound House on June 9th, tickets available now.
Dublin-based alt/pop artist YourCuzMarcus has released new single 'Homecoming', accompanied by a video shot and edited by the singer himself.
The announcement comes just a few weeks before the artist's headline show in The Sound House on June 9th.
'Homecoming' explores the bittersweetness of growing up in Ireland and the difficulties in building a life in Ireland's capital city. The single is a tribute to Dublin, YourCuzMarcus explained, capturing the city he knows and loves.
The song is an ode to both those who left Ireland and those who stayed. "So many people I know have left Ireland," the musician noted. "A few years ago I had a visa and one way flight booked to Australia but I never got on the plane. I guess that’s what this song is about. Growing up in Ireland can be bittersweet, it’s a beautiful place with great people but it can be difficult to build a life here, rents are high and opportunities are limited."
The track was co-produced by Alex Borwick, and features violinist Suzanne Vachet. YourCuzMarcus shot the video on a camcorder over three days and further edited it himself.

YourCuzMarcus' unique alternative pop sound earned him both national and international recognition. His music career, however, experienced a brief halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
After a chance encounter with Irish electronic–rock band Jape, his passion for music was reignited.
YourCuzMarcus is poised to make a strong return to the music world with "Homecoming", showcasing his new sound and hands-on approach to production.
