In this exclusive featurette, Byrne sheds light on the reason why he joined the Marco Polo cast.
His reasoning is pretty impossible to argue with seeing the unstoppable force that is Netflix.
Joining the cast of Marco Polo in Season 2, Byrne is a particle of one of the most exciting, original Netflix project yet. Byrne will play the corrupt Pope Gregory X in the upcoming Season 2 and this featurette, the Walkinstown native looks incredibly fit for the papal crown. In the 3 minute teaser video, Byrne comments on the power and quality of Netflix which no doubt influenced his decision to embark on this project; "An interesting change has happened in the last few years in terms of film and television. More people are watching Netflix than are going to see independent films."
Marco Polo Season 2 will see the famed explorer venturing into 13th-century China. The second series is due to launch on July 1 but in the meantime, you can catch up on Polo's adventures in Season 1 which are all ready and waiting on Netflix.
