Introducing Nintendo's newest console. Oh my gosh.
Nintendo has released the first official look at their newest console. Following the rumors surrounding their codename NX project, the Nintendo Switch functions as a 2-in-1 console that allows users to not only play on their television screens, but to carry the console itself as a portable in the style of their 3DS and Gameboy handheld systems.
In addition to the new hardware, the trailer gives us a glimpse at the games we can expect to see on the console. The new Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which was shown off in great detail at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, was the first game shown. After that was a preexisting game, but more of a surprise, Skyrim. This will be the first time a Bethesda game has officially been published on a Nintendo console. A couple more unannounced games were shown, including a new 3D platforming Mario game and a presumably new Mario Kart. Last year's Splatoon also made an appearance.

With any luck, this console will be a success for Nintendo. Their previous home console, the Wii U, suffered in the sales due to a number of reasons, including the loss of casual gamers to the mobile market, poor marketing, an odd name, and the lack of third party support. So far, reception to the new Nintendo Switch has been positive.
