The first theatrical trailer for The Greatest Showman, an original musical inspired by the fantastical life of P.T. Barnum, dropped today, and it looks absolutely magical.
Starring Hugh Jackman as Barnum, the film documents the rise of the showman to world renown through his creation of the Barnum & Bailey Circus.
And what better way to capture the spectacularity of Barnam's career than with a musical? The film features original music from Tony and Academy Award-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who also penned the music for La La Land and Dear Evan Hanson.
The Greatest Showman is director Michael Gracey's first feature, and while it is an ambitious first attempt, it makes perfect sense considering Gracey's background in visual effects. The trailer is aesthetically stunning, and the film promises to be every bit the spectacle that Barnum's shows once were.
