Los Angeles-based musician Cynthia Catania has been performing and touring at home and across the US since 2003, having cut her teeth as part of indie-pop quartet Saucy Monky in Ireland.
Cynthia Catania, a musician known to Irish radio-waves and stages for nearly two decades, has shared the fantasy-themed video for brand new single 'Only Time Will Tell'.
When she first moved to LA, Catania landed series work before nabbing writing credits, penning jingles, music for TV, and theme songs. The collaborative dream team was formed when herself and co-writer Annmarie Cullen landed a Wendy’s campaign. The talented pair later wrote songs for Nickelodeon, CBS, the WB, NBC, and even a theme song for ABC daytime.
Catania cut her teeth in the Los Angeles music scene playing shows with Katy Perry, Sara Bareilles, Gaby Moreno, Meiko, and on, as well as co-writing songs with band members from Macy Gray, Fits and The Tantrums, and Joe 90. Catania then gained production experience mixing live sound for well-known artists including PJ Harvey, Imogen Heap, Tears for Fears, John Frusciante of the Red Chili Peppers, Linda Perry (Four Non-Blondes), and a gig as the personal engineer for Eurythmics’ guitarist Dave Stewart - all the while managing shows for her indie label.
New Jersey-born Catania earned a reputation alongside Dublin native Annmarie Cullen after they created indie-pop band Saucy Monky. The pair fronted the outfit, which went on to share the Oxegen stage with The Black Eyed Peas and The Cure before they disbanded. Saucy Monky caused a stir in the LA music scene with their debut album Celebrity Trash in 2003, earning the group frequent radio play and television appearances. They split up before sharing their sophomore album — 2004’s Turbulence — due to internal band struggles.
In 2018, Niall Stokes of Hot Press Magazine invited Catania to guest write Hot Press' Sex Column Series. The singer-songwriter wrote for the magazine for over a year, touching on a hugely wide range of sexual health and relationship topics.
In 2019, the singer-songwriter-producer returned to Irish shores as a solo artist. Her single 'Phones' debuted on Late Date with Fiachna ó Braonáin and RTE’s Arena. The singer released ‘Last Beer’ back in February 2020 premiered her eerie and beautiful song ‘Suitcase’ on the Hot Press YouTube channel in December that year.

After a long pandemic without performing, she touched down in Dublin once again in 2021 for a string of support dates. She also kicked off 2021 with the release of her single, 'Last Beer', alongside the accompanying video. Dedicated to nonprofit TuffVets.org, which provides support for struggling combat veterans, the fun-loving video was shot with summer sun in mind and a colourful cast of characters.
When her support tour wrapped last year, Cynthia flew to Avignon, France to collaborate with Sue Ann Pien on the video for new single 'Only Time Will Tell'. You may recognise Pien as a lead actor/co-star in the new Amazon Prime series As We See It. The duo have created a clever and beautiful pandemic fairytale on the streets of Gault in the new visuals for 'Only Time Will Tell'.
