Kendrick Lamar put together a line up of 'Rich Spirit', 'N95' and 'Father Time' to perform for the live studio audience.
Kendrick Lamar graced the stage of Saturday Night Live as the musical guest on the live comedy show's October 1 episode. The legendary American rapper performed 'Rich Spirit', 'N95' and 'Father Time' from his newest studio album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which came out in May this year.
For his performance of 'Father Time', Lamar shared the stage with English singer Sampha, who appears in the studio version of the song.
The rapper set the scene for his singles with white walls enclosing him on all sides into the illusion of a blank room. Using shadow filters reminiscent of his American tour and a simple, stripped set up using a bed with a chair, dresser and dim lamp; Lamar brought his message to life with all eyes on him.
This marks the first time Lamar has appeared as a musical guest on SNL since 2014, when he performed the award-winning single 'i' from his third studio album To Pimp a Butterfly. His appearance on the sketch comedy show comes almost exactly a month after the release of Lamar's short film for 'We Cry Together', another one of the singles on his newest project.
Lamar recently finished the American leg of his tour for Mr. Morale, and is gearing up for Europe with his first show kicking off in Amsterdam on October 7. He will eventually head over to Dublin to perform at 3Arena on November 13 and 14.
