Muse return with an explosive new single and accompanying video, directed by Jared Hogan.
English rock band Muse return to the scene with their first release since 2018 album Simulation Theory, visceral new single 'Won't Stand Down.'
Accompanying the song is a music video directed by Jared Hogan, adding Muse to his list of previous collaborations which include girl in red, Gracie Abrams and Joji.
The song stays true to Muse's form, full of heavy guitar riffs and punchy vocals, the lyrics a testament to strength against abuse of power. The video follows this theme, featuring a hunched man grow into an imposing figure as he controls a masked, anonymous crowd; singer Matt Bellamy screaming "I won't stand down/ I'm growing stronger," as the figure rises.
"'Won't Stand Down' is a song about standing your ground against bullies, whether that be on the playground, at work or anywhere," said Bellamy in a statement. The lyricism certainly reflects that, with verses including "I know how you win, before you begin/ I'll shoot you before you take aim."
