Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali will lead the latest season of the detective anthology series.
True Detective's third season will follow Ali’s Detective Wayne Hays as he attempts to piece together the fragments of his past. After the lukewarm reviews of the second season, the news that the HBO crime drama was renewed for a third season surprised fans and critics.
The new season follows Wayne Hays (Mahershala Ali), a state police detective and his partner, Roland West (Stephen Dorff), an Arkansas State Investigator whose career has been shaped by a baffling crime. Co-starring is John Charles Dickson, Sarah Gadon (Alias Grace), Ray Fisher (Justice League) as Wayne’s son and Carmen Ejogo (Selma) as Amelia Reardon, an Arkansas schoolteacher.
True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto return as writer and showrunner.
