Today would have been Tupac Shakur's 45th birthday.
With that the producers of 2Pac's upcoming biopic, All Eyez On Me, have released the first teaser trailer.
It's almost 20 years since the King of the West-Coast was assassinated in a drive-by shooting. Directed by music video veteran Benny Boom, All Eyez On Me will detail the harsh existence of the fallen hip-hop forebear. From his beginnings in dire poverty to becoming an icon and a defining artist in the hip-hop scene, it will intimately reconstruct the rags-to-riches tale of Tupac Shakur. Starring the relatively unknown Demetrius Shipp Jr. as the legend in a daring debut character choice there will be other incarnations of real life people - Kat Graham plays Jada Pinkett and Stefon Washington takes on Puff Daddy. The film will feature modern day tracks like Nicki Minaj's 'Beez in The Trap' and Waka Flocka Flame's "Hard in Da Paint".
In the growing canon of hip-hop cinema with last year's sleeper hit Straight Outta Compton, All Eyez On Me has all the potential to become a strong award candidate.
It's due out this coming November.
