Showtime has released the first trailer for their upcoming documentary about the life of Eric Clapton, Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars. The documentary provides an intimate look at Clapton's life from his childhood through his solo career and the Cream era, including his battles with addiction and the tragic death of his son Conor in 1991. The trailer also includes interviews with Clapton himself, as well as a list of prolific musicians who cite him as a player who "revolutionised" guitar playing.
The new film was directed by Lili Fini Zanuck, who was given unprecedented access to Clapton's personal materials. According to producers, the new film will include "personal archives of classic performance clips, on- and off-stage footage, iconic photos, concert posters, handwritten letters, drawings and personal diary entries."
The film is premiering this week at the Toronto International Film Festival, and was produced by Showtime. Stay tuned to hear about where to find it on Irish cinemas or stations. Watch the trailer below.
