Following on from "Running", Vokxen's new single "Crystal Eyes" drops today and we have the exclusive preview.
Northern Irish trio, Voxken have been carving out a reputation for electrifying performances, stunning tracks, and standout videos. After thrilling crowds in Belfast and Berlin, Vokxen most recently performed a headline gig at Fibber Magee's in Dublin on Friday 26th October.
Their spellbinding song "Crystal Eyes" is (fittingly) out today, October 31st, and premiering here with Hot Press. The new track combines Feminist Film Critic Laura Mulvey's theory of the "Male Gaze" with inspiration from the film The Dark Crystal. The result? A captivating blend of synth beats, infectious lyrics and vocals drenched in defiance.
Their second release of 2018 (after"Running"), "Crystal Eyes" pays homage to the past whilst remaining contemporary as ever, in Vokxen's signature edgy style.
The video for the track - produced by Canadian documentary team "Definitive Film" behind projects for Netflix, Disney and Google - features the kind of high-quality storytelling often missing from today's music videos. It tells a captivating tale of (false) perception, entrapment and breaking free of bonds that hold us back, all told through mesmerizing visuals and dance (against one hell of a song).
