Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers of Wet Leg will release their eagerly anticipated self-titled debut album on Friday (April 8).
Isle of Wight duo Wet Leg have done it again with their riotous new track 'Ur Mum', which takes aim at a softboy ex-boyfriend in beautifully indie fashion.
Tommy Villiers takes on the role of 'Scotty' in the video, which sees him slip on a puddle of milk with the words 'Wet Leg' formed, after telling Rhian Teasdale that she'd look better without red lipstick. But not before inviting her to see his band play at the local community centre that night, of course.
Inspired by Napoleon Dynamite, Wet Leg become the source of paranoid hallucinations for the overly-opinionated frontman of Scotty and the Soft Boys. The zany video was directed by Lava La Rue.
“The ‘Ur Mum’ video was all about bringing the viewer into the Wet Leg world – sprinkling details throughout the visual that not only reference at least 4 songs off the album but also plenty of inside jokes within the band too,” La Rue said in a press release.
“Artistically it shows where the aesthetic of American indie films like Napoleon Dynamite fit perfectly in the scape of rural British settings – this concept first came to me when the band took me to IOW for the first time – I saw the connection and it all clicked into place.”

Speaking on the track, Teasdale said: “I was pretty angry at way things had gone in this particular dynamic. It’s just a diss song I wrote to make myself feel better. It worked. I always try to dilute serious things with humour, I think. So it only feels natural that if there’s a bit of humour in there, that would attach itself to something that’s maybe a bit sad. I will always try and make light of things."
"When I think about what you've become, I feel sorry for your mum," Teasdale declares in the follow up to recent single 'Angelica'. “You’re always full of it/ Yo, why don’t you just suck my dick."
'Too Late Now', 'Wet Dream', 'Oh No' and the brilliant 'Chaise Longue' will all appear on the pair's upcoming debut album, which lands on April 8th via Domino Records.
Wet Leg recently announced a headline show at The Academy on 28th November 2022. Teasdale and Chambers will also perform at Limelight Belfast on November 27th.
