Megan Thee Stallion is a Grammy award-winning international sensation. Not only that - she’s an icon. I love her.
The first time I heard Megan Thee Stallion was on the track ‘Freak Nasty and Big Ole Freak’ on her album Tina Snow in 2018. From that moment on I was hooked. Her lyrical ability, cadence and how she presented herself on her tracks was so strong – so dominant – that you simply couldn't overlook her talent. That's one of the things that stood out to me about Megan. That dominant flow is a characteristic that I also want to reflect in my music. To be so confident and unapologetically outspoken is something I love in an artist – and one of the things I love about myself.
As a Black woman – in fact as a woman in general – sometimes you feel like your voice isn’t being heard. When I listened to Megan, I got the vibe of, ‘I don’t care if you don’t care to listen, you’re going to hear what I have to say anyway’. And so people did!

From here, she created a movement, with #HotGirlSummer. She created her own lane for her ‘hotties’. The boss, independent, sexy, confident and outspoken women who aren’t afraid to be themselves and refuse to conform to the misogynistic norms of society. One of my favourite tracks from Megan is ‘Tina Montana’, released in August 2018. I recently went through her entire discography, and this was one of the tracks that really resonated with me. It gave me the ignition to start writing and releasing music. It was one of my inspirations for my roll-out release ‘Boss Flow’.
I was in awe of the visuals, the flow – how she rides the beat apparently so effortlessly, whilst also showcasing her Houston background. This to me is art. She is so authentic and real, yet so self-assured without having to put others down. It was also when I became familiar with her alter ego, Tina Snow. This helped me dig deep into myself and really try to understand myself because this is the key to writing authentic music - knowing you’re a boss.
It’s exciting that she’s topping the bill at Electric Picnic, because she’s inspired thousands of other hotties across the globe and here in Ireland too. Megan has got amazing stage presence and definitely knows how to move a crowd – and let’s not forget her amazing twerking skills! She really stands true to her name and her knees. This woman is a true stallion and a superstar.
I believe there is still so much more for her to discover in herself and in turn produce more hot girl music for us. Megan is definitely one of my top modern musical inspirations. She also inspires me as a woman to stand up and go against the grain and keep creating powerful music…even when you feel like quitting.
