Withings Pulse O2 - Technology Review
Feel good fit of the summer
Pinned to your wrist like an electronic ASBO tag, this is the latest life-logging device to capture your inner joy or torment. This slickly designed magic bracelet splits health stats into Weight, Activity, Sleep, and Heart. Like the Jawbone UP and Fitbit Flex, it logs the amount of steps you take in a day, whether walking or running. The Sleep counter tells you the total time you slept, although there is no alarm like on the UP device.
A heart rate sensor, which lets you check your pulse and blood oxygenation level, separates the Pulse wrist-band from its rivals. Charge the device via a micro USB port. You won’t have to do this too often – the battery lasts weeks. One thing, though: remember to take it off your wrist in the shower. The Pulse O2 is not waterproof, which for a fitness lifestyle accessory seems like a drastic oversight. Not an entirely clean bill of health, then.
