This fortnight, UK funnyman Milton Jones pays us a visit…
Fans of Mock The Week will be familiar with both the wild mane and deadpan tones of Londoner Milton Jones. A frequent guest panelist on the show, the 48-year-old is a gifted master in that most ancient art of... the one-liner. HP caught Jones live a couple of years back in the Iveagh Gardens, and couldn’t help but be won over by his oh-so neurotic style. Catch him both north and south this fortnight when he stops off at Ulster Hall (April 12) and the Olympia, Dublin (13).
The ‘Big Yin’ (that’s Billy Connolly to you and me) continues the Irish leg of his current tour this fortnight. The bearded Glaswegian performs for three nights in Dublin’s Gaiety (11, 12, 13) before heading.. well, not too far at all actually. Catch Connolly across town at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre (16, 17, 18) before he heads back up north for two Waterfront Auditorium performances in Belfast (20, 21).
Keeping it international, Reginald D. Hunter also continues to make his way around the country. The Georgia-born comic, who relocated to the UK back in ‘90s, heads to the Shamrock Lodge, Westmeath (11), Wolftrap, Offaly (12), Greenacres Bistro, Wexford (13), and Set Theatre, Kilkenny (14).
In the green corner meanwhile, it’s Colm O’Regan, who brings Ireland’s Got Mammies out for two shows this fortnight. Catch the live version of @irishmammies in Riverbank Arts Centre, Kildare (13) and Roscommon Arts Centre (25). Limerick’s Pat Shortt is also out for a double whammy, he plays Venue Theatre, Meath (13) and Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo (20), while the excellent Fred Cooke takes to Vicar St's stage for the first time on April 20.
