During a promotional interview for her new Disney+ film The One and Only Ivan, Angelina Jolie praised Irish actor Barry Keoghan, calling him 'very unique'.

Jolie was appearing on Virgin Media One's Six O'Clock Show via Zoom when she was asked about the Dublin-born actor.

"One of our country's greatest exports is Barry Keoghan," said show host Martin King. "You and him have become good friends, and he's referred to you as being 'a mother-like figure'. What do you make of that?"

"I'll take it!", Jolie answered. "I'm honoured! He's wonderful. He's really wonderful. We worked together on Eternals and he's so talented. You know, he's very unique - and that's a fun thing to see these days.

"When you meet somebody and you say, 'Well, there's a lot of people that can do good work...', but when strong, unique personalities come forward and they have their own... something that you haven't seen before, it's really exciting, it's fun to see. So I think highly of him."

Marvel's The Eternals is due out in cinemas in February 2021, and The One and Only Ivan is now streaming on Disney+.
