Included among the nominations for the BAFTAs Television Awards are shows like Derry Girls and Bad Sisters and Irish acting talent like Cillian Murphy and Siobhán McSweeney.
The 2023 BAFTA Television Awards nominees have been announced ahead of the award show on May 14th, to be hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan. Included among the nominees is a full list of Irish talent.
To start off, Sharon Horgan's Irish black comedy series Bad Sisters, was nominated in five categories. Competing with The Responder, Sherwood, and Somewhere Boy, the hit Apple TV+ show is nominated in the category of Drama Series.
Anne-Marie Duff from the series is also up for the Supporting Actress Award. She's been nominated alongside Andor actress Fiona Shaw. Dearbhla Walsh is up for an award in the Director: Fiction category.
It also was nominated in Scripted Casting and Titles and Graphic Identity.
Like Bad Sisters, the acclaimed sitcom series Derry Girls, which finished up last May, has been nominated in several different categories. Listed for Scripted Comedy, it's writer and creator Lisa McGee, has also been nominated for the Writer: Comedy category.

The Cork-born actress for Sister Michael, Siobhán McSweeney, is one of the actresses shortlisted for Female Performance in a Comedy Programme. Other shortlisted nominees for the category include Daisy May Cooper (Am I Being Unreasonable?), Diane Morgan (Cunk on Earth), Lucy Beaumont (Meet the Richardsons), Natasia Demetriou (Ellie & Natasia), and Taj Atwal (Hullraisers).
Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy is up for the category of Leading Actor for his work as Tommy Shelby. He's set to appear in the upcoming film Oppenheimer and was recently announced to produce and star in the film adaptation of Claire Keegan's novel, Small Things Like These.
Irish playwright and screenwriter Nancy Harris received a nomination for the comedy-drama The Dry. It also stars the Belfast actors Ciarán Hinds and Roisin Gallagher.
Additionally, The Graham Norton Show on BBC One in the Comedy Entertainment Programme category.
In a press release, the CEO of BAFTA, Jane Millichip, offered "huge congratulations" to all of the nominees.

"Today a record number of entries in Television and Craft resulted in 128 nominations, demonstrating fantastic strength and depth in programming and talent in 2022."
P&O Cruises was also announced as a new headline sponsor for the BAFTA Television Awards, launching a new public-voting award, the P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award. Voting for the six nominees, who will be decided by an independent industry jury, opens in April.
The BAFTA Television Craft Awards will be hosted on April 23rd. The BAFTA Television Awards will be broadcasted on BBC One and iPlayer at 7PM on May 14th.
