The Irish Artists for Palestine group have previously urged Bambie Thug to boycott Eurovision, in protest against Israel's participation
As calls for Ireland to boycott the Eurovision Song Contest continue, it has been revealed that Bambie Thug will appear on tonight's Late Late Show.
The artist, who is performing in Eurovision's first semi-final on May 10 in Sweden, will join presenter Patrick Kielty for "a chat and a special performance", according to RTÉ.
Earlier today, a petition was delivered to RTÉ's studio in Cork, with over 5,000 signatures, urging RTÉ not to broadcast the event, in protest against Israel's participation, in the midst of the ongoing attacks on Gaza.
The group Irish Artists For Palestine has also called for a boycott of Eurovision – and has expressed disappointment in Bambie Thug's decision not to join the boycott.
"Irish artists have consistently demonstrated strong solidarity with Palestine, both historically and in recent times," the group said in a statement this month. "This solidarity is exemplified by actions such as the collective boycott of the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Texas, owing to its sponsorship by arms companies and the American military. We appeal to Bambie Thug to follow suit and Boycott Eurovision."
Yesterday, prominent Irish music industry figure Mark Graham penned a letter to "75 of RTÉ's advertisers", urging them not to have their brand advertised during the Eurovision broadcast, in protest against "the normalising of genocide."

"When the President of Israel intervened in the song selection process for Israel's entry in Eurovision 2024, the song contest became politicised," he wrote. "That intervention successfully requested that the lyrics of Israel's entry be changed in an attempt to circumnavigate the rules of the competition, constituting an explicit statement when it comes to the political intent of that country's entry."

Today, with support from @ipsc48 & @_IAFP, I’ve written to 75 of @RTEOne’s top advertisers to let them know what I’m going to do next #Eurovision2024 #followthemoney #FreePalestine pic.twitter.com/YlUASjz3ix
