As the BAFTAs are largely pre-recorded, the mistake was removed from the show.
The Banshees of Inisherin actress Kerry Condon has responded to the awkward error from last night's BAFTAs, which saw the winner for Best Supporting Actress initially announced as Carey Mulligan instead of the Tipperary native.
At the awards ceremony, Oscar-winning actor Troy Kotsur came on stage to present Condon the Best Supporting Actress award. The sign-language interpreter mistook her name for Mulligan's and announced the wrong winner to the audience.
The error has been quickly rectified by Kotsur and his interpreter. Condon was the only actress to get up to collect the award. The error has been cut from the show since the majority of BAFTAs is pre-recorded.
In an interview with The Mirror, Codon said that she was initially taken aback by the moment, but didn't allow the slight hiccup to dampen her enjoyment of the moment.

"They called out Carey Mulligan and I was like: 'Oh my god what the f**k?'" she said. "But I don't care, I just won it. I'm so shocked, I can't believe I won. I'll be looking at this for the rest of my life."
The award for Best Supporting Actor went to Condon's Banshees co-star Barry Keoghan. Director Martin McDonagh won Best Original Screenplay, while the film itself won the award for Outstanding British Film, since it was created by British Film4 Productions. All in all, the film and the actors have won several BAFTA awards.
Since its premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival in 2022, The Banshees of Inisherin has won several awards, including eight nominations at the Golden Globes, nine nominations at the 95th Academy Awards, and 10 nominations at the BAFTAs.
