The film is as yet untitled, and the plot is "being kept under wraps", according to Deadline.
Oscar nominee and BAFA winner Barry Keoghan has reportedly been cast alongside Wednesday star Jenna Ortega and The Weeknd in a mysterious new film.
The new movie is currently in production from Waves director Trey Edward Shults, with Oneohtrix Point Never set to score.
The film, which as yet is untitled, was co-written by singer The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) with director Trey Edward Shults.
"Even though both Ortega and Keoghan have been weighing several offers following their big years, both made it clear they wanted this as their next project, and following their commitments, the film was a go," Deadline says.

British actor Tom Burke (Living, Strike) was also initially involved alongside Mescal, but Burke has also been replaced by the American actor Christopher Abbott (Catch-22, It Comes at Night).
The film also stars Colm Meaney (Gangs of London, Star Trek), Nora-Jane Noone (Wildfire, Brooklyn), Paul Ready (Motherland, The Terror), and Susan Lynch (Happy Valley, Unforgotten).
