Bring Them Down "follows Michael (played by Abbott), the last son of a shepherding family who lives with his ailing father, Ray - Colm Meaney's character.
"Burdened by a terrible secret, Michael has isolated himself from the world," the synopsis reads. "When a conflict with rival farmer Gary (Paul Ready) and his son Jack (Barry Keoghan) escalates, Michael is drawn into a devastating chain of events, forcing him to confront the horrors of his past and leaving both families permanently altered."
Bring Them Down is the feature debut of writer-director Chris Andrews, who previously made the award-winning shorts Stalker and Fire.
A European co-production, Bring Them Down includes the Irish company Tailored Films among its producers and is made in conjunction with Fís Eireann/Screen Ireland and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI).
On Monday night, Barry Keoghan secured the Best Supporting Actor BAFTA for his work on The Banshees of Inisherin, beating his co-star Brendan Gleeson for the honour.
Mescal will be among the guests on Friday's Late Late Show on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player, and appeared at the Dublin International Film Festival last night for the premiere of God's Creatures.
The 27-year-old actor, whose film Aftersun has earned him a clutch of Best Actor nominations this awards season, is starring in a production of A Streetcar Named Desire.
