Another big role for Dublin actor Barry Keoghan!
The life of Shane MacGowan makes his way to the big screen and one of our most promising Irish actors is going to play him! Yesterday, it was announced that Barry Keoghan takes on the role of the Pogues frontman in a new biopic.
According to the Irish Sun, Shane MacGowan himself confirmed the news and approves of the choice, saying: "Barry is a marvelous actor and I couldn't think of anyone better to do it. He'll do a great job". It's rumoured that MacGowan currently works on the soundtrack for this film.
The biopic will mainly focus on the relationship between MacGowan and his wife Victoria Mary Clarke, who also wrote the script for the movie. "It's a love story, it's not a Pogues film although that will obviously be a part. We're both very excited. He's already counting down the days until he can watch it on Netflix", Clarke told the Irish Sun.
A few days ago, Clarke already hinted at the new role for Barry Keoghan when Irish comedian Jarlath Regan suggested on Twitter that the actor should play Bob Dylan in a biopic. MacGowan's wife retweetet the post and wrote: "Maybe Barry Keoghan will be playing another living legend soon!!!".

The Dubliner is very much in demand right now. A few weeks ago, it was announced that Keoghan will take on a big role in the new Marvel movie The Eternals. He previously starred in critically-acclaimed movies such as Dunkirk and The Killing Of A Sacred Deer.
It's almost one year ago that we talked to the actor about his latest movies, his childhood and fame. Back then, he said about growing up in Ireland: "It's a brave thing to say you want to be an actor here – people think you're dreaming." Well, as they say, dreams do come true.
