The film is based on Christie's 1969 book Hallowe'en Party, and is titled A Haunting in Venice.
Actors Jamie Dornan and Jude Hill of Academy Award winning flick Belfast will reunite with the film's writer-director Kenneth Branagh for his new adaptation of an Agatha Christie story. The film titled A Haunting in Venice is based on Christie's 1969 book Hallowe'en Party.
Branagh also directed and starred in Death on the Nile and Murder on the Orient Express, both of which are Christie adaptations also for 20th Century studios. He will reprise his role as detective Hercule Poirot in the new film.
A Haunting in Venice will also star Tina Fey, Kelly Reilly, Michelle Yeoh and more. Branagh explained, "This is a fantastic development of the character Hercule Poirot, as well as the Agatha Christie franchise." He continued, "Based on a complex, little known tale of mystery set at Halloween in a pictorially ravishing city, it is an amazing opportunity for us as filmmakers, and we are relishing the chance to deliver something spine-chilling for our loyal movie audiences."
The film is set to go into production on the 31st of October and release sometime next year.
