Benedict Cumberbatch replaced by Edward Norton to play Pete Seeger
Norton is set to replace Cumberbatch as Pete Seeger in the upcoming Bob Dylan film starring Timothée Chalamet.
Primal Fear actor Edward Norton has been called on to play the role of folk singer and social activist Pete Seeger in the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.
Initially, Seeger was intended to be portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch. However, the actor reportedly withdrew from filming due to scheduling conflicts.
The film, announced in 2020 and directed by James Mangold, will star Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan and Elle Fanning and Sylvie Russo, with production allegedly set to begin in March.
Rather than outlining the entirety of Dylan’s career, the film will focus on his controversial decision to take on the electric guitar in 1965 and the ensuing fallout among fans.
As the man who invited Dylan to his first electric set at the Newport Folk Festival, Pete Seeger will play a crucial role in the upcoming biopic.
