Beyoncé releases an extended cut music video of ‘Spirit’ and ‘Bigger’ from The Lion King
Proving yet again that she truly is ‘Queen Bey,’ the empowering double feature includes two songs off her latest album, The Lion King: The Gift.
The extended cut video starts with the music video for ‘Spirit,’ the empowering song which was released earlier this month. The video passes back and forth between footage from the movie and shots of Beyoncé in the desert and features a cameo from her daughter, Blue Ivy.
Between songs, the video cuts into ‘balance (mufasa interlude),’ the first track on Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift album which was released last week to accompany The Lion King movie. The interlude includes a voiceover from the opening of the movie where Mufasa, voiced by James Earl Jones, explains the balance of nature.
“You need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures,” he advises. “We’re all connected in the great circle of life.”
The music then transitions to ‘Bigger,’ the second track off the album, accompanied by a brand-new music video. The video itself is a continuation of the ‘Spirit’ video with many of the same color-blocked scenes. Blue Ivy is also featured in the video, but this time, Beyoncé is much more of a protective mother figure, guiding her daughter and holding her close.
Throughout the video, there’s evidence of the African influences Beyoncé wanted to tap into in creating the album in the choreography.
“It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers,” explained Beyoncé in a statement on the album. “Authenticity and heart were important to me.”
