Beyoncé releases music video for 'Spirit' from The Lion King soundtrack
Beyoncé, the Queen of the desert
Two days ahead of the release of the soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift, Beyoncé shares the music video for her new song 'Spirit'.
The video was first aired on an ABC News primetime special called The Lion King: Can You Feel The Love Tonight With Robin Roberts on Tuesday. In the interview, Beyoncé states: "The concept of the video is to show how God is the art director."
Along with scenes from The Lion King movie, the music video features powerful and beautiful visuals of Beyoncé (seemingly) in a desert. According to Variety, most of the scenes were actually shot in or around the Grand Canyon.
It wouldn't be a Beyoncé video without any dance routines, this time hugely inspired by the African theme that the whole album is built around. The singer sports a fair amount of magnificent outfits throughout the video and even brings her daughter Blue Ivy in for a cameo.
Beyoncé's upcoming soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift will be released on July 19th and features a slew of famous artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Pharrell Williams and her husband Jay-Z. The movie The Lion King will hit theatres on the same day. Beyoncé voices Nala in the film.
