The 10-song deluxe album is available today from Tuff Gong/Island Records.
As Paramount Pictures continues to create their upcoming film Bob Marley: One Love, the 10-track deluxe album Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired By The Film) has been released by Tuff Gong/Island Records.
The album contains contemporary covers of essential tracks from Bob Marley, a reggae icon. One of which was Kacey Musgraves interpretation of ‘Three Little Birds’.
The other artists that collaborated to create this album include Wizkid, Leon Bridges, Jessie Rayez, Bloody Civilian, Daniel Caesar, Farruko, Shenseea, and grandchildren of Marley, Mystic Marley and Skip Marley.
“What a blessing it was to get to be a part of such an iconic project,” said Farruko, a multi-platinum winning artist. “It was an honour to take part and that this film will show he was more than a leader, he was a prophet, someone who forever changed the music culture and who made it a priority to fight for human rights and peace and equality. I very much identify with him. He has always inspired me and we share something else so special, that island culture, it’s in our blood.”
The Marley family was able to help choose and approve which of Marleys’ songs would be in the film. The music that was chosen is a true reflection of the 60 year relationship between the Marley family and Island records, Jamaica and now the film being created.

The film has been produced in partnership with the Marley family. The role of the musical icon will be played by Kingsley Ben-Adir. He will be supported by his co-star Lashana Lynch who will play as his wife Rita.
“Bob Marley would have been playing in my house as far back as I can remember," said Ben Nadir, speaking to Hot Press' Roe McDermott. "The Notting Hill Carnival was my childhood, I was there from one to three-years-old. So when I heard I got the role, just on a selfish level, I was like, ‘Oh, at least I get to spend a couple of years with Bob.’”
In order to truthfully play Marley, Ben-Adir he had to really understand the music. Marley was so culturally significant and his music was so visceral because it dealt with the PTSD and trauma the artist had to endure.
“As an actor that was so interesting. There were ideas of trauma and complex PTSD, and feeling rejected by your own people. Then there was the conflict, the pressure and the struggle he was involved in. All that struggle is so closely connected to the story of the creation of this album. Bob’s music speaks for itself and it’s everywhere," he said.
Bob Marley: One Love is in cinemas now. The film has been rated PG-13 for marijuana use and smoking throughout, some violence and brief strong language. The deluxe album is now available for purchase here.
