Brad Pitt and Peter Berg are set to work with Chris Cornell's widow, Vicky Cornell, to produce a new documentary on his life and career.
According to Variety, the film will be produced by Cornell’s widow, Vicky, along with Brad Pitt and Peter Berg’s Film 45 production company, which focuses on non-scripted entertainment and branded content.
The legendary Chris Cornell was the lead singer of Soundgarden, a position he occupied from 1984 until the band broke up in 1997.
He then fronted Audioslave alongside members of Rage Against the Machine, before Soundgarden reunited in 2011. The band was in the middle of touring when, on May 18, 2017, Cornell died after a show in Detroit. His death was ruled a suicide.
Last month, Vicky Cornell and a number of Chris’s fellow musicians, including Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, threw a benefit concert, “I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell” in Los Angeles.
Guest performers included Miley Cyrus, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Brandi Carlile and Chris Stapleton. Pitt also made an appearance.
In October last year, a life-sized statue of Cornell was unveiled in his hometown of Seattle, which was commissioned by Vicky.

The singer also recently won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance for his solo track, ‘When Bad Does Good’, which features on his posthumously released archival box set.
The singer’s two children, Toni and Christopher, accepted the award in his honour.
According to Variety, the Chris Cornell estate have confirmed that the documentary is underway but have revealed no additional details about its release.
