It's almost time for the eighth annual Bram Stoker festival, which was started by Dublin City Council and Fáilte Ireland to celebrate the legacy of Stoker, one of Ireland’s most celebrated and revered authors.
By day, Bram Stoker Festival presents gothic intrigue at family-friendly events, talks, and interactive experiences. When night falls, though, the city will embrace the darkness as a host of venues deliver deadly adventures for festival goers in search of macabre thrills. The festival programme includes theatre, spectacle, walking tours, panel discussions, and immersive experiences in haunting locations across the city celebrating Dublin’s gothic and supernatural traditions.
It isn’t Halloween without scary movies, and Bram Stoker Festival is celebrating three creepy cult classics with a packed weekend at Meeting House Horrors. Voted on by Bram Stoker Festival’s audience and taking place in the dead of night in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, there’s a fright, and serious craic, in store for every type of horror fan at these dress-up screenings.
Come dressed to distress with your best '90s chokers, long black dresses and deadpan one-liners and get into the spooky spirit starting with The Craft on Friday 25 October. The ultimate '90s goth girl cult classic, The Craft follows four troubled teenage girls who practice witchcraft and must face the consequences of their dark deeds.
Before the screening, the new Irish short horror-comedy, The Early House will be premiered. The film follows Glen, a troubled teenager with revenge on the mind. An after-hours Dublin boozer plays host to a nest of vampires in this new short from award-winning filmmakers Derek O’Connor and Ian Whelan, AKA Doris/Magee and produced by Emily O'Callaghan, created especially for this year’s Bram Stoker Festival.
