Ryan Tubridy will be hosting a unique edition of The Late Late Show this year to celebrate St Patrick's Day, with plenty of great Irish talent joining him in studio.

In its 49 years on air, the veteran chat show has never taken place midweek.

Hollywood ace Brendan Gleeson will be making an appearance tonight, having appeared last Easter to shine a light on St Francis Hospice and discuss the filming of Joel Coen's Macbeth alongside Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand.

Brendan recently missed out on a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Donald Trump in The Comey Rule. The Dublin native recently revealed how he spat out his false white teeth in front of his co-stars while playing the 45th US President. As part of his physical transformation, he had to wear a set of moulds.

“My poor little Irish teeth — they just don’t get that white. The moulds did make me feel like as if I had my suit of armour on to go out and that he travels with the show, the show travels with him. That’s it. He has prominent upper teeth, but every time I did that I kind of spat them out in somebody’s face. In fact, it happened one day in the shoot — I went into the meeting of all the generals and spat my teeth out.”

There will be plenty of Irish music in store for viewers, with Andrea Corr from The Corrs also dropping in. Paddy Moloney of The Chieftains, traditional Irish band Clannad, as well as members of Stockton's Wing, Edel Fox, Louise Mulcahy and Zoë Conway making appearances too.

Clannad released a beautiful live rendition of their 1985 Bono collaboration 'In a Lifetime' alongside Limerick artist Denise Chaila today to mark St. Patrick's Day.
