Brooklyn Nine-Nine show runner Dan Goor said he and the show's writing staff are considering tackling a storyline that would reference #MeToo.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association's Brooklyn Nine-Nine panel, Goor expressed the cast and crew's interest in doffing their hats to the movement but refused to promise anything for certain.

He said serious storylines are "hard to do" as they "still have to feel true to what the show is and still feel funny" while also exploring the issue at hand and giving it enough weight.

Andy Samberg piped up to say that while there are a lot of issues that would be great to tackle, the show won't touch them until they can be sure they have the right take on it.

Actor and former NFL star Terry Crews was also present at the panel for his role in the show.

Crews, who publicly accused William Morris Endeavor agent Adam Venit of groping him in 2017, has been a big advocate for #MeToo. He also filed a criminal complaint against Venit, but the LA City Attorney’s Office cited the statute of limitations in their refusal to prosecute.

At the panel, Crews said he's enjoying what he calls the "summer of freedom," claiming many assault victims can now share their stories.

"I feel like this is going to be a new day and now the town will be safer for my wife, for my son and for my daughter," he added.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is to return to NBC for a sixth season after it was cancelled by Fox.
