The upcoming film tells the extraordinary tale of Amy Winehouse, painting a vibrant picture of the bustling Camden streets she called home, and her journey to global stardom. It's an unmissable portrait of an immense creative talent – best seen (and heard) in cinemas.
Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, with a screenplay by Matt Greenhalgh, the film boasts an exceptionally strong cast, including rising star Marisa Abela, Jack O’Connell, Eddie Marsan and Leslie Manville.
As well as chronicling Amy’s early rise to fame, the film will tell the tumultuous story that inspired her groundbreaking, Grammy Award-winning second album, Back to Black.
As a major cinematic event, the release of Back to Black also serves to remind music fans of Amy Winehouse's phenomenal legacy – having blazed a trail that continues to inspire some of the world's biggest stars.
Accompanying the film will be a special compilation album, Back to Black: Songs from the Original Motion Picture, out on May 17. In addition to Amy's music, the LP will include a new track 'Song for Amy,' sung by Nick Cave – as well as highlights from the film's stunning score, composed and recorded by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.
