Making her film debut, Charli XCX will star in Legendary Pictures' revival of the cult horror film Faces of Death, to be directed by Daniel Goldhaber
Documentary-style horror flick classic Faces of Death was originally released in 1978. Written and directed by John Alan Schwartz, it explores the pathologist Fancis B. Gross's mad descent into the exploration of death, often cruelly perpetrated by humanity, and the idea of a supernatural afterlife.
Now, the cult release is getting a remake and the singer-songwriter Charli XCX is making her film debut in it.
Featuring a modern twist, the new Faces of Death horror film by Legendary Pictures will reportedly reinvent the documentary angle from the perspective of a content creator. Accidentally uncovering someone recreating the murders of the original, the new film will play with the idea of online misinformation and the validity of the influencer's findings.
Other details of the plot have yet to be revealed, including the cast's characters and roles.
Already announced for the project are The Blackening's Jermaine Fowler, Saved By The Bell actress Josie Totah, Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira, and Stranger Things actor Dacre Montgomery. The project is being directed by Daniel Goldhaber, who co-wrote it with Isa Mazzei. Filming has already begun in Louisiana.
It's not the only movie Charli XCX is now working on. In March, the news broke that she would be working on the upcoming A24 movie starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel. She and Jack Antonoff will be working on the film's soundtrack together.

The news also comes amid the reveal of a new era for Charli XCX, who teased on social media the profile @360_brat on Twitter and Instagram will soon be "unlocked" later today. In a previous post, she shared that her Coachella performance was "the final show of the Crash era."
"Rip main pop girl, I buried her alive" she concluded on Instagram.
