With a record 14 nominations, the Oscars are sure to be a great night for the Irish in Hollywood.
To celebrate Colin Farrell's Oscar nomination for Best Actor for The Banshees of Inisherin, acclaimed sand artist Sean Corcoran created a portrait of the Dublin actor. Together with the Landbrokes company, Corcoran created the sand portrait of the Dublin actor on Keem Bay in Achill.
The beach became globally recognisable due to its appearance in several scenes of Oscar nominated The Banshees of Inisherin. Aside from Farrell's nomination the film received eight further nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and many more.
Landbrokes' Nicola McGeady said: "We are delighted to have collaborated with the very talented Sean Corcoran on this incredible sand art installation to show our support for Colin Farrell, 'The Banshees of Inisherin' and indeed all Irish nominees ahead of the Oscars this weekend. I think I speak for the entire nation when I say we are immensely proud and firmly behind our native stars for Oscar glory."

The Oscars will be held this weekend, on Sunday, March 12th. Since Ireland is nominated in a record 14 categories, including the nominations for the Banshees film, the portrait represents the Irish people's strong support.
The Banshees of Inisherin has won several awards since its premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival in 2022, including eight Golden Globe nominations, nine Academy Award nominations, and ten BAFTA nominations.
Alongside Colin Farrell, Banshees stars Brendan Gleeson, Barry Keoghan, and Kerry Condon are nominated for the Oscars - plus Maynooth's Paul Mescal for his role in Aftersun.
