25 years after the original film came out, The Full Monty's story is continued in a new Disney+ 8 part series coming out this June.
The 1997 Oscar-winning comedy film The Full Monty is making its return as a new Hulu and Disney+ tv show.
Originally directed by Peter Cattaneo, written by Simon Beaufoy, and produced by Uberto Pasolini, it featured Robert Carlyle, Tom Wilkinson, and Mark Addy as a group of ex-steelworkers in Sheffield trying to reinvent their lives after the mill shut down.
What's more, in order for Gary "Gaz" Schofield, played by Robert Carlyle, to pay child support and retain custody of his son, he resorts to establishing a Chippendales' striptease act that goes "the full monty" to encourage immediate interest.
The limited series will see Robert Carlyle, Tom Wilkinson, and Mark Addy reprise their previous roles, navigating life after the industrial shut-down and discussing societal issues like nuances that complicate healthcare, education, and employment.
Simon Beaufoy will co-write the series with Alice Nutter. It will be produced by Searchlight Television, FXP and Little Island Productions.
