Derry Girls' Saoirse-Monica Jackson awarded by Royal Television Society

The actress plays Erin Quinn on the hit TV show.
In a private ceremony that was live-streamed via video link, Saoirse-Monica Jackson was awarded with the Royal Television Society Programme Awards' Best Comedy Performance (Female) in London on St. Patrick's Day.
The 26-year-old was praised by the RTS for "a truly standout performance in a brilliantly funny series".
"She confidently commits to the character, despite the craziness of the world she inhabits," the RTS said.

There were a number of other Irish actors amid the nominees, including Aisling Bea for the Breakthrough Award for her comedy This Way Up, and The Young Offenders' Alex Murphy and Chris Walley. The lads were jointly shortlisted for Best Comedy Performance (Male).
