A serendipitous sign saw Sister Michael come to life near the Pyramid Stage last weekend.
The flags and posters brought to the Glastonbury festival have historically been characterised by sharp wit and fun creativity. This year, a Derry Girls reference stood out from amongst the rest: a photo of Sister Michael on the front of the Republic of Ireland Flag. Underneath an aggressive eye-roll, the flag reads the nun's usual catchphrase "Christ".
The actress that brought Sister Michael to life, Siobhan McSweeney, came across the flag during her own adventures at Glastonbury.
Omg. I want all the Irish people at #Glastonbury to gather under this flag, and storm the pyramid stage!! https://t.co/TxMCTjZNtq

In our 2019 interview with McSweeney, she confided "what I love about Sister Michael is that she has a life outside of being a nun. She has an awareness of the whole world. She’s not closeted away and she’s not ignorant." Fans have not only loved the viral moment from Glastonbury, but herald the actress for her continual public activism and use of platform to speak about issues like Roe v. Wade.

The decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is a devastating attack on women's rights. The UK government cannot remain silent. Tell @TrussLiz to condemn this breach of human rights, and to protect funding for abortion care globally. #RoeVWade. https://t.co/7joqW4MdFB
