The 2025 Academy Awards ceremony is set to take place on March 2.
The nominations for the 2025 Academy Awards have been unveiled – with many film and music fans from Ireland and beyond expressing disappointment as Kneecap misses out.
Back in December, it was revealed that the multi-award-winning Kneecap – which delves into the origin story of the groundbreaking Belfast hip-hop trio of the same name – had been shortlisted in two categories at the upcoming Academy Awards: Best International Feature and Best Original Song (for 'Sick In The Head').
The International Feature Film nominations include I'm Still Here (Brazil), The Girl With The Needle (Denmark), Emilia Pérez (France), The Seed Of The Sacred Fig (Germany), and Flow (Latvia).
The nominations for Original Song include 'El Mal' (Emilia Pérez), 'The Journey' (The Six Triple Eight), 'Like A Bird (Sing Sing), 'Mi Camino (Emilia Pérez), and 'Never Too Late' (Elton John: Never Too Late).
KNEECAP have now responded to what's been widely perceived to be a major snub – posting on social media: "Fuck the Oscars. Free Palestine."
