Doctor Who is building up anticipation for the arrival of the 15th Doctor with new photos of Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson.

The new images, shared by the BBC, show the two actors in 1960s clothing, hair and makeup in preparation for their roles as The Doctor and Ruby respectively.

The news of Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa’s casting was announced in May 2022 and the first look at the actor as The Doctor was released in December with the actor in a vibrant orange sweater.

Gatwa will be playing the 15th Doctor following the return of David Tennant to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the popular show. Tennant will be reprising his role as the 14th Doctor.

The veteran English actor will have a set of three specials that are set to premiere this December. Catherine Tate will also be reprising her role as Donna Noble for three special episodes. The rest of the cast include Neil Patrick Harris in an undisclosed role and Heartstopper actor Yasmin Finney.

The special is set to feature the new pair of Gatwa and Gibson, with surprises in store for how audiences will meet the 15th Doctor.

Showrunner Russell T. Davies teased the arrival of the new doctor and the mystery that lies in store for fans of the British show back in October.

Davies mentioned, “If you thought the appearance of David Tennant was a shock, we’ve got plenty more surprises on the way. The path to Ncuti’s 15th Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun.

“We’re giving you a year to speculate, and then all hell lets loose.”

The new look comes after the account released photos of the Doctor’s “most powerful enemy yet”, with drag icon Jinkx Monsoon.

Doctor Who is a long running science fiction show, created in 1963, which follows a Time Lord and extraterrestrial being with a human appearance.

Gatwa is formally taking over the role of the Doctor from Jodie Whittaker, who finished her run earlier this year.
