The two part musical stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo
Universal has put out the first full-length trailer for the two-part musical Wicked, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
Adapted from the Tony-winning Broadway musical of the same name, Wicked is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and recounts the events preceding Dorothy’s arrival into the land of Oz. It tells the story of the friendship between the two then-aspiring witches Elphaba and Glinda in their youth before they became enemies.
The trailer shows new footage of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo singing ‘Popular’ and ‘Defying Gravity’.

The two-part musical is directed by Jon M. Chu, best known for his work on Crazy Rich Asians and In the Heights. The cast also includes Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater and Bowen Yang.

The first instalment is set for release on November 27, with the sequel to follow on December 25 2025.
Yesterday, Universal also released a featurette titled Wicked - Passion Project which includes interviews from the cast and crew. It also features from Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's auditions, with commentary from Chu.
