The first glimpse of This Is Sparklehorse features old footage of Sparklehorse founding member, the deceased Mark Linkous.
The first teaser for the documentary THIS IS SPARKLEHORSE has been released.
The feature-film length documentary focuses on the life of founding Sparklehorse member, Mark Linkous.
Linkous was an American singer, songwriter and musician, best known as the the frontman/lead singer of the band, Sparklehorse. He was also well-known for his collaborations with notable artists such as Tom Waits, PJ Harvey, Daniel Johnston, Radiohead, Black Francis, and so on.
In 2010, after a long period of depression, Linkous died by suicide.
12 years later, British filmmakers Alex Crowton and Bobby Dass, heavily assisted by Mark Linkous’ friend and collaborator Angela Faye Martin (who narrates), bring audiences THIS IS SPARKLEHORSE.
The documentary reveals many parts of the late multi-instrumentalist’s life for the first time - featuring interviews with the director, David Lynch, members of Mercury Rev, PJ Harvey associate John Parish, Ed Harcourt, Metric, Portishead’s Adrian Utley, Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, broadcaster Matthew Wright and Gemma Hayes - all friends of the musician.

The documentary also features an interview with Linkous' brother, Matt, and archive interview footage of Mark Linkous himself.
Speaking about the documentary, close friend of Mark Linkous and musician Gemma Hayes said: "This a such beautiful and poignant documentary about the life and music of the man behind Sparklehorse, Mark Linkous. It brings Mark’s delicate and dark music into the light and into our lives again."
THIS IS SPARKLEHORSE will release on vimeo on October 15, or is available to buy on the same date.
