A 15 bedroom and 10 bathroom castle used in season 3 of HBO's Game of Thrones is available to purchase for the starting price of £500k (€561,544). For some context, the average cost of a house in South Dublin is €599k, according to figures from Daft.ie.
Located in Co. Armagh, Gosford Castle was used as the exteriors for the Game of Thrones's castle Riverrun, the former seat of House Tully, now occupied by its new lawful rulers House Frey.
In real life, the fortress was built in the mid-1800s by the 2nd Earl of Gosford. It was designed in the Norman Revival style by London architect Thomas Hopper and was occupied by the Earls of Gosford until 1921. During World War II, the castle was commandeered and used to accommodate troops. Also, a POW camp was set up in the estate.
Following the war, Gosford was sold to the Ministry of Agriculture who established the 590 acre demesne as Gosford Forest Park, later designated Northern Ireland’s first conservation forest in 1986. The castle fell back into military use during The Troubles before being run as a hotel from 1983.

Recently, Gosford was converted into 23 luxury residences. The portion of the castle being marketed for sale has been partially developed with a view to convert the space into six luxury apartments. Each one boasts an average space of 3500sq ft and with some offering roof top gardens.
In true Game of Thrones' fashion, these apartments are dubbed: "The Inner Bailey ,The Great Hall, The Old Keep, The Dining Room House, The Library Wing and The Round Tower."
