According to reports, the X-Files star will take on the role of Margaret Thatcher in season four of The Crown.
Currently rehearsing for a West End adaptation of the 1950 film All About Eve, according to reports by The Sunday Times, Gillian Anderson has been cast to play the role of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in season four of The Crown.
This comes ahead of season 3's airing date, which will see Olivia Colman take over for Claire Foy as Elizabeth II for the next two seasons.
The Crown writer, Peter Morgan previously documented the weekly meetings between Thatcher and the Queen in The Audience - a play starring Helen Mirren as the English Queen. The relationship between Thatcher and the monarch was rumored to be a particularly frosty one and though it remains to be seen how The Crown will treat the dynamics between the pair, audiences will be in for a treat with the talent set to portray the two.
Netflix has not yet confirmed Anderson's casting with filming for the fourth season of the hit show set to take place during the summer.
