The film will feature The Office stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey.
Live Nation Productions has announced that New Years Rev, a road-trip comedy inspired by and produced with Green Day, is in the works.
The coming-of-age film will feature actors Mason Thames (The Black Phone), Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust as the members of a band who travel to Los Angeles under the (incorrect) impression that they are opening for Green Day on New Year's Eve, Variety has reported. It will be written and directed by Lee Kirk.
The film's logline says "their roadtrip is a rowdy and mischievous jaunt across the country," inspired by the "years of living in a tour van" of the band's early days.
Other members of New Years Rev's cast are The Office stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, as well as actors Ignacio Diaz-Silverio and Keen Ruffalo.
"Van days rule. You will drive all night on no sleep then play a show for 10 kids in a basement of a friend of a friend’s house 50 miles east of anywhere you’ve ever heard of," said Billie Joe Armstrong, the band's guitarist and lead vocalist, in a statement.
"But you’ll do it again the next day, and the one after that. Because you’re doing it with your bandmates who become your family and it’s unlike anything you’ve ever known. It’s electric," he added. "Let the music and mischief ensue."

"New Years Rev tells the story of young artists chasing a dream — long nights, endless miles, and the electrifying rush of the stage fueling their journey," said Ryan Kroft, one of the film's executive producers. "Brought to life by an incredible cast, it’s a tribute to the magic of live music."
The five-time Grammy Awards-winning band is one of the best-selling music acts of all time, with over 75 million records sold worldwide up to date. With renowned hits like 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams,' 'American Idiot,' and 'Wake Me up When September Ends' under their belt, the band is often credited with leading the '90s punk rock revival in the US.
They released their last album, Saviors, in 2024. You can check our review of the album here.
