David McSavage and Emile Pine are among the guests on the popular RTÉ Saturday night chat show tomorrow
RTÉ has announced the line-up for the Ray D’Arcy Show, which is a regular Saturday night favourite for many Irish families.
Hot Press readers will likely be divided as to whether the comedian David McSavage or the writer Emilie Pine is likely to be the night’s star turn.
McSavage is certainly likely to be the most unpredictable, making him a potentially riveting chat show guest. There is, when he appears, always a sense of impending disaster: how hugely might he embarrass his host? Well, that depends on how the interview goes. But compared to most RTE performers, McSavage is both utterly uninhibited and hugely self-deprecating. McSavage will talk about his new live show, National Treasure, and about working with George Clooney on his upcoming mini-series Catch-22 – or if all goes to plan he will!
Emilie Pine, meanwhile, has been widely praised for her award-winning, No.1 best-selling book Notes To Self, in which she writes about a range of personal topics, including parental alcoholism, menstruation, infertility, sexual violence and the menopause. Pine is a lecturer in Modern Drama at UCD and is a fine speaker – so will doubtless offer wisdom as well as entertainment.
Also on the show will be pop star Peter Andre. Celebrating 25 years in show business, Andre will talk to Ray about the highs and lows of the music industry, love, family and the apparently enduring appeal of his biggest hit, 'Mysterious Girl'.
Meanwhile, the weight loss expert Dr Eva Orsmond will talk about her new book which aims to help people take control of Type 2 diabetes. She’ll also discuss her so called 'health hotel' project in Portugal.
