Carter was best known for his role as DJ Scorpio Lyons in the popular RTÉ series Hardy Bucks.
Tributes have been paid to Hardy Bucks actor Ali Carter ahead of his funeral in Co Mayo later this week.
Known for his role as DJ Scorpio Lyons in the popular mockumentary series, Alan 'Ali' Carter was in his 30s at the time of his death.
He is reported to have been found dead on Monday in a house in Westport, Co. Mayo.
A Garda spokesperson released a statement on Tuesday afternoon, saying: "Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of a body of man in a house in Westport, Co. Mayo yesterday, Monday, 26th August 2024 at approximately 6am.
"The body was removed to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar where a post-mortem will take place, which will determine the course of the investigation."
Carter was a regular and fan favourite on Hardy Bucks, which first started as a web series and later became a beloved RTÉ show, alongside such characters as Viper Higgins and Frenchtoast O'Toole and followed their exploits in an Irish small town. It ran for four seasons and later yielded a feature film.

According to the death notice posted on RIP.ie, Carter was predeceased by his grandparents and father-in-law Tommy.
The death notice continues: "Ali will be deeply missed and loved by his partner Lorraine, daughter Aleisha, parents Geraldine and John, brothers Kevin and Gordon, sisters-in-law Aoife and Liona, and Caroline Carney, nephews Cormac and Jonah, aunts, uncles, cousins, work colleagues and many friends."
Mr Carter’s local soccer club Swinford FC said he will be “deeply missed by all who knew him”, paying tribute to his family, former teammates and friends.
"Ali and the Carter family are a massive part of our club and we offer our deepest condolences to his partner Lorraine, daughter Aleisha, parents Geraldine and John, brothers Kevin and Gordon and all his extended family as well as all his former teammates and many many friends."
