The president of Marvel Studios said it had been a “dream for years” to cast the legendary Hollywood actor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After rumours circulated online, fans will be happy to hear that legendary Hollywood actor Harrison Ford will make his Marvel debut in the upcoming film Captain America: New World Order, set to be released in Ireland on May 3rd, 2024. The news was confirmed by Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, on Tuesday.
Ford will take over the role of Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, who has long attempted to lock up superheroes, including the likes of Captain America and the Hulk, the latter character which he was responsible for creating in a failed lab experiment. In the new movie, Ross becomes president of the United States after serving as the U.S. secretary of state and a military general in prior film instalments. The role was previously played by actor William Hurt before his death in March 2022.
"In this film, we'll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible," Feige said in a recent interview with American magazine Entertainment Weekly. He added that it had been a “dream for years” to cast the beloved actor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “It's like, I can cross that off the wish list".
Harrison Ford will not only play General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross in the upcoming #CaptainAmerica movie; he'll play President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. And his dynamic with Cap will be a fascinating one. https://t.co/yhWDF4JNt7 pic.twitter.com/hiHIymsnUs
